Be Ready
We live in an age of skepticism. Atheists and Agnostics have become very vocal in their questioning of faith. Challenging questions such as, Why does God allow suffering? Why isn’t Christianity more inclusive? How can one religion be “right” and others wrong? Why have so many wars been fought in the name of God? are all great questions.
Over the years, I have found that most Christians seem to fall into one of two camps when it comes to discussing their beliefs. Either they refuse to listen to other viewpoints and attempt to argue with and put down anyone who disagrees with them, or they refuse to engage in any kind of discussion at all out of fear of not being able to explain their faith adequately. I believe a healthy balance can be found.
In the first week of our new series, we’ll lay down the ground rules for this series, using 1 Peter 3:15-16 as our guide. “If someone asks about your Christian hope, always be ready to explain it. But do this in a gentle and respectful way.”
