The Story of the Cross
The most central belief of the Christian faith is the Cross. Jesus had to die in order that we might experience freedom from our sin. For a lot of people, that doesn’t make a lot of sense. After all, if God is all powerful, why couldn’t he just forgive people? Why did Jesus have to die in order for forgiveness to be given? Doesn’t that make God some sore of sadist? Or worse, a “spiritual child-abuser” since Jesus is his son?
How do we explain the importance of the Cross? Why is it such a necessary chapter in the story of our spiritual journey?
