Introduction

Many of us have read Robert Frost’s poem, The Road Not Taken. In the poem, Frost describes two roads diverging in the woods. He must choose which path: the one more commonly taken, or the one that few seemed to choose. He sums up the poem with these famous words, “Two roads diverged in a wood, and I, I took the one less traveled by. And that has made all the difference.”

This week, we introduce a new series called Two Paths, Seven Choices. All year long, we’ve been looking at taking our faith to a new level. What does it mean to truly live your life as a follower of Christ? Most often, it comes down to making choices. Choices that require fully trusting in God. That’s what this series is all about. We’ll look at seven choices we all must make. The choice we make will take us down one of two paths. The path of faith, or the path of self. One leads to abundant life, the other to destruction.

What are the seven choices? They’re based on the seven deadly sins found in Proverbs 6:16-19. We’ll compare them to the beatitudes found in Matthew 6:3-12. With each area, we’ll be forced to decide: to we live by our own rules, or do we trust God and experience abundant life. The great news is that God has promised that those who trust in him will quickly discover that the path becomes incredibly clear.
